I have been to Prague about six times never experienced problems with pick pockets but like with any city its wise to aware of whats going on around you. The city is very cheap for both beer and food, try the chzech bars and restaurants for a cheap and tasty meal and large beer. For an indication on cost in january we were paying about £20 for starter main and a couple of large beers per couple. Sight seeing is very cheap most things are free access with the exception of the astronomical clock tower and the castle. Its a beautiful city and you will love it. I would say about £250 will be plenty for the amount of time your going, we always take Chhezch crowns as you dont have the hassl of changing them when your there then. Hope you have a great time.

I was just in Prague last week. They take credit cards for everything so I only carried about 5,000 Kc (~125£ ?? 200Euros). Some of the churches were too small of an establishment and cost only 30-100Kc to take credit cards.
You can eat cheap or expensive. I could get 2 bratwurst and chicken wings for 40Kc lunch at the subway station. I also spent 1,200Kc one night. We (my girlfriend and I) spent roughly 325 Euros for 72 hours in Prague (4 days 3 nights) for food and sight seeing.
Avoid changing money at money exchange places. They will "advertise" a great price with no commission, but when you look into it the advertising price it is for buying not selling Kc and it is for changing 40,000+ Kc.
Avoid using taxi cabs, they will rip you off.
Go to banks to change your money in Prague.
The castle and surroundings took the most time. If you want to see it all and read a guide about 2 full days. The Jewish area is closed on Saturday, ooops for us.
Have fun, we did....

Wonderful and beautiful city and wonderful people. I thought the women were the most gorgeous I have ever seen . Very cheap if you go one street back from the tourist trails to eat and drink , as for pick pockets any time i have been there i felt completely safe and un-threatened , Metro system is a joy to use , I was amazed how fast , clean and easy to use , Suggest a City bus tour with multi stop tickets , ie , you get on and off at stops along the route and catch the bus on the next time past. I stay in Hostels while there and have nothing but good things to say. Do you get the idea I enjoy Prague :O) :O)

Be careful with pickpocketers. My cousin who lives in Czech Republic had her purse stolen. So, the best thing is... Keep the money/credit cards safe. Make sure it's not anywhere where a pickpocketer can take, just to be on the safe side.
As for sightseeings:
* Prague Castle (Prazsky hrad)
* Charles Bridge (Karluv Most)
* Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti)
* Old Town Hall and Astronomical Clock (Staromestska Radnice)
* Jewish Quarter (Josefov)
* Museum of Communism
* Strahov Monastery (Strahovsky klaster)
* Vysehrad
* St. Vitus Cathedral (Chram svateho Vita)
* Old Town (Stare Mesto)
* Petrin Hill
Etc...

Take care of your belongings specially on frequented touristic places (like Venceslav square). U need maximally 1000 Czech crowns per day (of course in average places - in Hilton it is enough just for starter). It is good to exchange money in bank or there is cool exchange in Vladislavova street - the best rate and no commission. Taxi drivers are cheating terribly lot, ask for them by phone and dont pick them on the streets. But generally is Prague very cheap and beautiful place for holidays...

I am English and live in Central Europe. I would suggest in the region of up to 150 pounds spending, however alot depends on you, and what activities you do while you are there.
Regarding pickpockets, just be careful, and keep valuable belongings out of view. Crime is no worse than in most other big cities.

There are pickpockets and beggfers, but if you keep your wits about you you'll be fine. Take Kc with you, don't worry about sterling. Food and drink is cheap if you stay away from the main tourist areas, but not really expensive even if you stay centrally. Their tube system is good.

Lucky you. Noone stole me in Prague or tried to do so. Pickpockets are everywhere. Take as much money as you can do a lot of sightseeing and clubing.
