I think so. For example, watching films like Schindler's List or Hotel Rwanda aren't as moving if you don't understand that they are based on real events and this horror actually happened to people. It makes you think about the message behind the film. It makes the impact of the movie more real and more intense. I cried during Titanic because I knew that hundreds of people had really suffered through that and hundreds of people had died. Films based on real events give us a peek at the horror that exists in the world.

More often, we fail to appreciate simple things causing simple joys that makes us happy. We even clamor about our status in life (economically speaking) that we can't do this and that because we run out of money in particular. We couldn't appreciate things or persons who's with us almost everyday. But when they're gone, that's the only time we realize their true value.
A film based on a true story would enlighten our minds about the statements above. It would also be the mirror of how things are going on. And a real-life based movies pays tribute to certain simple people with extraordinary lives.
In my own opnion, it's more enteristing and entertaining watching a real-life based movie than a film which is a product of someone's imagination or maybe based on something which was exaggerated just to catch the people's attention so they'll gain more. But don't get me wrong, I have nothing against those.

That really depends. A great true story of courage or evil is certainly gripping but there's also so much creativity required to write a great screenplay (i.e. Usual Suspects)..you don't really know how something will end, who the characters are meant to be...and it's only through the course of the film that this gets revealed....so in some cases those fictional films can be more interesting.

Not necessarily more interesting, but they can definitely be more powerful.
Take Schindler's List, for example -- terribly tragic film because that stuff really happened.
And the movie Monster (with a fantastic performance by Charlize Theron) had more of an impact for the same reason.

Not necessarily. Science Fiction or Fantasy movies can be much more intereresting than "true story" productions. So my best answer would be "more moving - yes, more interesting - not necessarily".
