The Florida keys are are a link of little isalnds, however each have a unique flavor that sets them apart. If you were to travel down to the end, which is Key West, there are a lot of things to explore. For example, if you stop in Islamorada, you can visit the world famous tiki bar at the Holiday Isle. There's great snorkeling and fishing, and the weather is always great.
If you refer to Key West specifically, which I think is the most fun, there are plenty of things to see. For example:
The southernmost point of the USA.
Duval Street - laid back street with lots of nice shops, restaurants and bars
Mallory Square - filled with street performers, this is the spot to catch the most beautiful sunset ever
Glass Bottom Boat Tours - Great if you want to get a glimpse of the sea life around the keys.

Manatees are a must see. In some places you can swim with them. I stayed at a campground in Key Largo and manatees came right up to the boat dock. It was great. We even saw a calf. Key Largo is also nice if you're looking for someplace a little quieter than Key West. You can take a glass bottom boat tour of the reef from there too. If it's still there, there is a lovely little restaurant on Islamorada called Thad's (or Chad's). The food was wonderful. It was several years ago so maybe it's not there anymore. I hope you enjoy the Keys.

There is a long highway that takes you to the Keys and links all the islands together. But everything about the island is a must see. I lived in Key Largo for a few years and loved it. Key West is a great one to visit and take in the local life. The ocean water, the sun sets, the sun rises, snorkling, dolphins. It is an amazing place. Great place for a vacation.

Schedule a kayak outing from Key West to the mainland
which is beached nightly for fine dining and rental rooms.
Escape the asphalt, most of the touting, and splash along
at your own speed. Kayaks are quiet which allows private conversations and solitude opportunity in groups if needed.
See islands not serviced by bridge and enjoy adventures every day.

Big Pine Key, one of the islands closer to Key West has these beautiful tiny deer, called Key deer that you can see readily around dusk (be careful driving not to hit one). I agree that Bahia Honda is a must see. I snorkeled there and it was lovely. All of Key West is beautiful, but stop by the Ernest Hemmingway house for a tour and see the famous Hemmingway cats, known for their extra toe trait. The houses are are beautiful and unique to Key West, somewhat resembling houses in Charleston and New Orleans. P.S.- it is illegal to swim with manatees, feed them..etc...It's considered harrassment...

I would recommend Bahia Honda State Park. Its beaches are rated very highly among those in the US. Loved it and the crowds were minimal when I was there in November.
