You purchase a stater Kit for $100 plus shipping and your state tax and receive over $300 in full size products plus training materials and supplies to get you started (enough products to do 30 faces). Since you are an independent contractor you choose how to run your business. Inventory is recommended but NOT required. You teach people how to use the products all of which is taught to you for free. you get 50% of what you sell you buy for wholesale and sell for retail. I hope that answer your question and give you the information you were looking for I would be happy to tell you more if you want email me. I have been using Mary Kay products for almost 10 years that's what made me consider the opportunity scine I loved and believed in the product. I have been sell Mary Kay for a little over two years. Mary Kay is a network marketing/mlm business. It is a phenomenal company. The business model is so phenomenal that it is taught at Harvard. However, it is not for everyone. As with anything, see if it is a fit for you. Most importantly, look at those who are succeeding in it and ask what makes it work for them and look at those who don't succeed and DON'T do what they did. Anyone who tells you the business is a scam is someone you DON'T want to listen to. They are "dream-stealers"! These business-models are great because they allow average people to start a legitimate business with very little start-up money and if they are consistent and willing to put in the time, can earn in a month what most people don't earn in 1-5 years. Do your research, though. As I mentioned, it may not be for you, but that doesn't mean you should not give it a look. What do you have to lose by taking a look at the opportunity. I read previous posts by disgruntled people. There are people who failed in Medical School. Does that mean the medical profession is a scam? Of course not. What's a scam is paying $100K (Before interest!) for college loans and earning $45K as a salary BEFORE taxes.

Give it a serious look if you haven't already and speak with someone who IS successful! Success leaves clues...

To your success!

I don't know how Mary Kay business can work, because their products do not work.

You may want to find something else.

When choosing business opportunity or franchise ask for the list of people that are already in the system and talk to them about the company.

Here is a list of questions to ask:

* How long have you been in business?
* Are you happy with your investment?
* Would you invest in this company again?
* Did the Company fulfill its obligations to you when you opened the business?
* How is your relationship with the Company?
* Have you ever had a serious problem with the Company?
* What is the strong point of your business?
* Can I expect to make money my first year?
* What is it you like most about the business?
* What are your short and long term goals?
* How much time do you devote to the business?
* What business were you previously in?
* How long did it take you to get your investment back?
* Is there anything you think I should know that I have not asked?

You may also want to look at other opportunities:

I found that the Mary Kay business, is not what is craked up to be. You do not make 50% of what you sell. You cannot run it like it's your own business, this was one of the reason that completely turned me off about this company. It is more like a pyramid scheme, where you recruit more consultants and have them place orders that will enable you to make more money. Some consultants from what I have heard are in great debt over this. there are consultants out there that run their business legally and at their own pace, but do not make the money that they tell you do.

Please look into some of this websites, www.pinklighthouse.com, Pinktruth.com and the pinkingshears.com. There are current consultants and directors that give you the behind the scene story of what really goes on as well as former consultants.

When I was thinking about starting, they wanted me to refinance my house, take out my kids college savings (which was not much), my own continuing edu. money in order to pay for products. For a company that teaches God first, Family second (or however their golden rule is) taking out your family savings and spending it on lipstick, set off a lightbulb in my head.

I could go on on about what else they preached, but some consultants out there would be accusing me off, what is it guys? "Not wanting to succeed in my life" , "Not knowing how to run a business" or one of my favorites " I guess you really don't like spending time with your family, that you settle to work a regular 9-5 job.

Like any company or business venture, do your research very carefully.

Mary Kay is a great business and has been around for a very long time. With my BA is business, I looked into many different network marketing businesses similar to Mary Kay and finally settled on another health and wellness company. Network marketing is a great way to become successful. You’re definitely on the right track.

However, you might consider starting a business with products that are new, fresh, and with a lot more variety. We have over 350 consumable products in 6 key consumer markets (skin care, body care, weight loss, nutrition, aromatherapy, and cosmetics), all of which are pure safe and beneficial. This opens the door to many more opportunities and a lot larger consumer base. We share proprietary, premium products, which means they're unlike any others on the market and no one can copy them. Our products are formulated in Switzerland, made in the US, and regulated by the FDA which means they do not consist of ingredients such as alcohol, wax, dyes, chemicals, fragrances, acetone, mineral oil, animal products or bi-products, etc. These ingredients have been shown to cause irritation, dryness, and a variety of other skin issues.

This company is also secure and stable (been in business 27 years), debt free with a low $29 start up cost, no territories to limit growth, NO INVENTORY, no sales requirements, unlimited income potential, free online training, online support, online and toll free ordering with direct shipping to your consumers, committed leadership, Mercedes Benz car program, free trips and vacations, and with the MOST GENEROUS COMPENSATION plan in the industry. We have four levels of management with the last level averaging $31,000 a month and everyone having an equal opportunity to move all the way up.

You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars up front to get started; you can earn your products to do your business. Your $29 will give you 35%-75% on the products as well as a business started kit with helpful booklets and information to get you rolling with your business. Everything is already laid out for you; you do not have to reinvent the wheel. You’ll also have an upline and sponsor that will always be available to help and guide you to through your business journey. The company is booming with an average of 111% growth every year since 2002 with 164% in 2005 over 2004! This is because we have revolutionary products with constant product development that are result oriented! People love them! Now's the best time to get involved because the area is not over saturated. If you love networking and sharing, this might be another option for you. Good luck. I would be happy to help you learn more if you're interested.
