I would say you need a caring attitude, patience (lots of it!), good communication skills and confidence in yourself. It would also be helpful if you didn't faint at the sight of blood! You would need to be prepared for a long ride to get there, but if you were commited it's fun as well, and you meet so many new people
I would say that if you are thinking of training to be a nurse then you would already have some of these characteristcs, as people who don't like sick people or blood or don't have a caring attitude to people wouldnt even consider becoming a nurse!
You also need to be psychologically strong yourself too though, as you see a lot of things that are very upsetting, and people who go into nursing for the wrong reasons don't last. But it does come with time. The first time I seen someone die I cried for days, but you do get stronger as you go on, so don't worry too much about that til you are there!
Its a big decision to make, and I would advise you not to take the decision lightly as its 3 years of your life, but I have found it the most rewarding thing I've ever done and love it about 90% of the time!
Hope that helps!

Certainly not for the money.
It`s a great job if you enjoy working with people. Qualities I think are, patience, knowledge, and good communication skills.

You want to care for people, and money isn't everything.
Needs to be a vocation, not just a job.
