My first-choice school is George Mason University. I didn't know of this school until AFTER the application deadline for fall 2007, but I just found out that it's still possible to apply for it even though they will consider it for a space-abailable basis. So I took the chance and did it last night, but I have found out that I had not put in my essay with the online application!!!! I have just screwd up my chance of getting in Mason!!! Whyyyy amy I so stupid... If I had applied before the deadline I KNOW I would've got in with my high GPA, but now I'm doubtful both because it's late AND it doesn't have an essay!!!!!! I don't know what to do. I can't re-apply because that'll cost me another 50 bucks.. Do you think I still have a chance to get in if they see my GPA at least? maybe? or if I send my essay by mail (which they said that the essay MUST be sent w/the application online)? Will they disqualify it? I'm desperate to get in!!!!

I really do not think that its that serious. I would suggest just calling them up and asking them if you can turn it in. Just explain your situation and see if they will understand. From my understanding, I thought they will notify you if you are missing a part of the application. If you are applying for undergrad than I thought they had already sent out the rejections letters (I know a bunch of people who got rejected). If they have already made the decision than you may have missed your chance.

Even if you do not get in I would suggest taking classes at a community college...if you live in the D.C Metro area I would recommend taking classes at Northern Virginia Community College. Over there you can take as many classes as you want (and in all honesty it is the same education you will be getting at Mason...only a lot cheaper if you are instate). And unless your GPA is over 3.5 than I would advise against assuming that you are guaranteed. They have made admissions a lot harder than it was about 2 or 3 years ago. Anyways, if you don't get in then you can take some time off for a year. Maybe take a class or two at a Community College (knock some of those general education requirements out the way) and you can always reapply. George Mason guarantees admission to anyone with a 3.0 or high from a community college in Virginia (assuming that you have your associates).

Well good luck, I hope you get in.

I hate to say it, but I really don't think you've got much of a shot. You can try calling up their admissions office and asking them what to do, but in cases like this, it's the early bird that gets the worm. I know that you made a mistake in forgetting to send the essay, but while you didn't know about the college beforehand, it's the kind of research that you should have done, and it's the kids that did do that that'll get rewarded with a spot. Sorry.

Well, why don't you call the Admissions office up at GMU and ask them about submitting your essay. Maybe if they see you are serious and willing to do what it takes to get in they will accept your application and forward it through the approval process.
