Why are many muslim men in the middle east against women's rights?

I always hear how women have no rights there, but why is that? Religious reasons? Fear of change? Why???

Same reason so many in the USA were against civil rights for women and minorities. So much easier to feel good about yourself when you feel you have the right to be superior to another. The men think they are owed everything, so can you imagine their shame if they lost out on a job to a mere woman? Just like here, to lose out to someone you are supposed to be better than would make them hang their heads.

I just read about a man who murdered a women rights activist in Pakistan. He said he had no remorse for what he did.

I would love to know why these men are against women's rights. Especially since their book the Qu'ran supposedly gives women rights.

This is not true.The true Islam gave women much rights than any other religion.What you read and see in the media is the viscous acts of people driven by traditions and not by real religion.Many sites on the net can tell you about women's rights in Islam
