every one that seems to loose the lighters in the home best not leave home with oven on.

Kazillions of times, for both. I stopped smoking in 1986, so no more lighters now, but while I did, I had a ton of lighters that I kept until they died. Same with ink-pens. I don't use them any more, but they used to have ink-pens without cartridges. You had to fill ink in the barrel. Eventually, the barrel would break.

I loose my pens all the time and I usually buy the cheap lighters so they tend to fall apart before the fluid runs out.

Of course, all the time. I'm a frugal person and feel that if the pen or lighter still works, it would be a shame to be wasteful and throw it out.

It's possible, but highly unlikely. You should check with the support site for that printer to be sure. But in most cases, the printer warns you of replacement consumables because the company just wants to sell you more junk you dont need (yet). My HP gave me a warning I was low on ink 2 days after I replaced it. I just let my printer go until the colors start to fade.

Somewhere in my house there is a vast cache of half empty biros and lighters, they never stick around long enough to run out.
One minute they're there full and then next time I look they've vanished - one day I will find them and make a fortune on Ebay

Yes I have used both until they have completely run out and refilled sometimes and other times thrown out. With the lighter the flint usually goes so no further use.

Nope sum cheeky s0d in the office keeps pinching my pens and ppl in the pub my lighters, if ur a guy i suggest getting a pink lighter, your mates wont steal it!

Yes, i usually keep my bics until they run out or i lose them. But i watch my lighters like a hawk so no one can steal them. Plus i smoke a lot of herb so it doesn't take long for a lighter to run out. So yes i have kept a lighter until empty many times.
