NO! Gay marriage is an oxymoron. Marriage was an order from God to join man and woman for the sake of populating the world. Not a creation of man just to signify being a couple. If you don't believe in God, then marraige should not be an issue. Homosexual relationships are the reason God desecrated Sodom and Gommorah. It is wrong.

I don't see that happening until Same-Sex marriages are recognized within the US. It's actually a very sad thing, even Argentina is considering a bill to recognize same sex marriages(and if I remember the statistics correctly the general consensus is that 75% of the people are in favor of it).

As for those who continue to interject some form of Religious Significance into the argument they forget that their marriages are no more or less valid than any performed by an Elvis Impersonator in Vegas. Your religious views matter only to you, they can have no legal authority over any who do not wish to follow your dogma.

Sure. Why not. But given that my home state is the only one that recognizes gay marriage in the first place, it is unlikely the rest will follow.

I think it would first need to recognise gay marriages within its own borders.

That would be my hope for the future. However I can't poo-poo the US' current position - look at the brouhaha caused here in the UK by the House of Lords decision not to recognise the Canadian marriage of two lesbians a couple of months back.

Well, to be honest, it doesn't make sense that the US would honor those done abroad when they will not acknowledge them inside of the US. It is one of those things that is the right thing to do, though, and eventually the US will accept same-sex marriages, but it won't happen any time soon, I believe.

EDIT -- to pink mafia below. Well, what you say is correct, and I shouldn't trust the government for those purposes. But in MY case, the reason I cannot do what you said IS BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT FORBIDS IT! I would LOVE to be able to just live my life with my partner, but the government does not allow him to come here. I am not looking for the government to solve my problem, I am looking to the government to ALLOW me to solve my problem.

I'm totally baffled by people who look to the gvmt and politicians to sanctify their union to their partner.

How did people ever get to the point where they are so trusting of gvmt that they are willing to give up their own freedoms for the approval of gvmt?

People now turn towards the gvmt to provide their education, retirement, health care, jobs, salary, ect just so they can avoid having to deal with these aspects of their lives themselves.

At one time people did the same to the church, now the same mentality views the state as the new mecca.

Live your life as you see best, form your marriage with your partner as you deem best for yourselves. Get the gvmt out of the marriage business!

my personal opinion is yes, but that is because I also think the US should allow same sex unions.

technically I understand that until the US allows same sex unions on a federal level, they will not recognize same sex unions for immigrations purposes.
