The princess showed this man a door...maybe she chose the one with the lady. She knew she was going to be unhappy, if he died of if he married the other lady, so maybe she decided to help him keep his life and be happy at least.

Depends on the kind of woman she was. In the story I read, I was under the impression that she really loved the guy and wasn't a very selfish individual. That's why I think that she gave him the lady... just because I don't believe that anyone would rather see someone they loved ripped to shreds by a lion instead of with another person.

I hate this story. Most people do because it leaves you hanging at the end when an important incident is about to occur. I always thought she told him the door with the tiger, as jealousy is a big motivator.

I believe it was his choice, and of course, the tiger ate him. I hope the ends the story for generations of readers.

if she truly loved him she wouldn't want to see him mauled by a tiger.
