Hi we have two coker spaniels and two springer spaniels! Both springers are excitable and always needing excercise! They are both working dogs and both very obiediant although now and agin will run off - not far but they are alot more difficult to train than the cocker spaniel - the cocker can be just as playful, are alot more loving and easier to train! One of our cockers is 2 now and he loves me to bits if you tell him to go to bed he rolls onto his back so you have to pick him up for a cuddle if you try to move him he's just like a dead wieght! Definatly a cocker if your looking for a pet - if you have alot of time then springer! We walk ours hour in the morning and a least tht in the afternoon and they still are never tired!

I'd just like to add that i was brought up with a cocker spaniel when i was younger and there was four of us (kids i mean) even when he got older and we wanted him to play but he was tired he never once snapped! The two i have now have never showed any signs of aggression towards anyone!

English springer spaniel is larger than a cocker spaniel. They are good dogs, both are very loyal - springer spaniels tend to have anxiety problems and cocker spaniels tend to become possessive - if you've got kids, i suggest the springer spaniel instead of the cocker spaniel - cockers tend to bite more. Springer spaniels need ALOT of exercise.
Good Luck.

Sorry, I don't know the difference, but I use to have an English spaniel and they make good pets.

Both are wonderful family pets......hve had both
Springer is very active and like to run the fields
...they still have more hunting instict in them
Cockers are active but happier being inside
and most quiet down earlier in age
BOTH are Loves and generally have sweet personalities
they are sensative to your emotions and willing to please.
Both need regular bathing and daily grooming with long fine hair
