That is abolutely possible. The jeans is made of 100% cotton, and the label is made of 100% polyester. When you dye it, make sure that you use a dye which only dyes cotton, and not polyester.

The wax on the label is a good idea...alternatively could could just buy some new ones!
In future, when you buy black jeans soak them overnight in cold water and wash them before you wear them for the first time. Also, you should always wash & iron them inside out....this will help maintain the colour for longer.
