I get this message when I tried to connect to the internet using Sky Broadband.
'You might not be able to access internet or some network resources. This problem occurs because the network did not assign a network address to the computer.'
What does it mean and how can I resolve it .

Definitely sounds like a DHCP problem. If your computer is connected to a home router try resetting it. If it just goes straight through the modem to the internet, contact your ISP about the problem. Go into network connections and right click your lan connections. Select properties from the menu. You will see a list of protocols, select TCP/IP. Click the properties button and make sure the obtain address automatically check box is checked. You can also assign a static IP address here but you need to find out what address, subnet mask, and gateway to use from your ISP.

First thing to try is to shut everything down. Computer, broadband modem, router or network hub if you are using one.

Power back on the modem (then hub), wait a minute or two, then turn on the computer.
If you continue to have problems, then contact your service provider, as they have a (underpaid) staff to help you.

If it worked before, did you change something to cause the problem? If so, undo what you did.

If not, call tech support at Sky. That's what the're there for.

TIP: If you recently added a router, you may have to go in and configure it first.

Most ISP's won't provide tech support for routers, so call the tech support people for your router Manufacturer.
