forget those fancy forks they sell at most automotive stores, just whale on it with a two pound hammer, not the bolt where the nut attaches, but the round cast iron part of the ball joint. the force of the blows will loosen the tapered joint and after 3 or 4 blows it should fall apart, if it doesn't you didn't hit it hard enuogh!

Get a tool from an auto store called a ball joint seperator and a big hammer- it looks like a two pronged pitch fork....You place it between the joints and belt it with the hammer hard as you can and it will come apart....You will need to replace the bushes though.

while pushing up on the ball joint ( assuming you have the nut off) rapidly tap on the assembly holding the ball joint ( where joint goes through )

It is called a pickle fork, and heating front end part pieces is NOT advised as they are tempered steel and will lose that temper if heated which renders them to soft to withstand the pressures they experience.

spray it good with PB Blaster, use a smaller bolt or punch and drive it out with a hammer.
