There is probably an earthing fault in the wiring for your rear lamps, most likely due to water ingress causing corrosion.
This was very common on 1980's and 90's Fords (Sierra, Fiesta Mk3, Escort Mk3, 4 and 5), but can occur on many cars.

Usually, the fix is to take the rear lamp cluster off the car, and clean all the contact points. Occasionally the corrosion will be so bad that you may have to change the bulb-holder, but this is rare. You might also have to invest in a new rubber seal between the lamp unit and the bodywork to prevent a repeat problem.

Any decent garage (not necessarily a main dealer) will have come across the problem before, and should be able to fix it.

A ground wire to your dash is not making a good connection. So the electricity is using another circuit to find it's way to ground. When you step on the brake pedal and actuate your brake lights, it temporarily prevents the dash lights from getting a ground through that circuit. Your dealer would be best equipped to fix your problem because he's fixed it before on the same model car. You have a short somewhere between your tail lights and your turn signals. It could likely be in one of the bulbs, if they are combination bulbs. Change the bulbs first. If that doesn't help, you need to find a mechanic that specializes in electrical work.

Sounds like a fuse problem or a bad wire connection. Take it to a shop, it shouldn't cost too much to repair.
