Assume that I have an immortal soul and someone kills or murders me. Technically, that person has not terminated my existence since I will continue to live after the violent act. Should the perpetrator be charged with murder or manslaughter?

Well, your flesh would be ended, maybe not your soul.

Courts are not concerned with your soul; they are concerned when you stop breathing.

The rule of the world in existance say that the killer should be prosecuted, because to kill someone is a crime in the book of law.
But spiritually it is your mortal body that is destroyed. The soul within you is not killed. It is immortal and never ends by death of a body.

Most people's interpretation of "life" would be the existence of a functioning body. An amoeba has "life" but does not necessarily have a soul or any sentience.

Your soul may live on, whether your awareness of self lives with it may be a moot point, but your body would be dead. As "life" is an existence that is observed by other people, as far as they are concerned, you would be dead.
