My primary school kids have a music concert coming up & it is always a rendition of how far the kids have got in their learning to play the violin, piano etc book - really awful. My kids can sing & play the guitar a bit & I was hoping for some suggestions of easy, fun pop songs that they could do to liven the concert up a bit.

It depends on how good the kids are but they could try Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) by Green Day. The chords are G, C, D, and Em.

Well, John Denver songs are often quite easy to play and fun for the kids to learn. Also most of the parents will recognize the songs and probably sing along. I learned a lot of JD music when I first learned to play guitar and still enjoy playing a lot of his music.

Look into the back catalogue of "They Might Be Giants". Chords, MIDI files, audio clips and lyrics can be found on www.tmbw.net. I use their songs with my KS3 music classes, and the children really enjoy them. Sometimes they are also quite cross-curricular ("The Bloodmobile", for instance, which I used during a health-themed week). The songs are often quirky (try Dr. Worm), and - in my experience - children think they are fun. They even do CDs especially for children!

ac/dc write really simple but effective songs to play, might be a bit rocky though. still worth checking out for them though, good fun.

If you have a boy and a girl then I would say Barbie Girl would be a cute song, they could wear costumes and it would be fun. "C'mon Barbie let's go party!"
