My "hot" button ( for my engine ) came on. I was going up a moderate grade hill range when it happened. What do i do? I had it in drive, would it have been better to go to a higher gear or would that make it worse, or does it not matter. when that light comes on what should i do? if driving uphill on a freeway ( so i was going 65 ) makes it come, are there any other driving conditions which might, like say driving through the desert? PLEASE HELP ^-^ any extra info you want to through in thats related is a BIG PLUS

Get to the side of the road and let it cool immediately. Maybe even turn the heat on (this will be really uncomfortable but it will help take heat away from the engine), and above all keep it running. If you turn it off it will get even hotter. Get the water pump and coolant level checked out, make sure they're okay.

Check your coolant levels. You are probably running low, it's cheap and easy. If you don't know where to look for it, go to an autoparts store or a shop and ask them to show you how to check it. It's not too hard.

Good luck!
