my company is running a "wear something red" day £1 to wear something red, £2 if you dont? any companies doing a similar thing, or are you doing something individual?

Absolutely nothing - I pay enough in tax already without donating money towards people who think shagging should be a full time occupation.

I know Jack is going to have a big red nose, but he has that anyway. Ted said to give him anything that I collect so that he can let it rest in his account. And Mrs Doyle is going to try and make a cup of tea for everyone on the island. (Though she's tried that before and it wasn't even comic relief, there!).

We are not doing anything here. However, I find the principle of making you pay more if you are not following whatever rule ridiculous. Charity is something you should be allowed to chose to do or not... It should not be mandatory!
