Personally I think no jail, There are worse individuals in society, and the argument that it leads to other drugs has never been proven.

No jail.. It's unethical, cannabis was used as a medicine for thousands of years. It's a big waste of taxpayers money. Victimless crimes should never be prison punishable.

Cannabis does cause major life and social problems. It is addictive and causes both organic and psychological damage to the brain. Many medical authorities find it difficult to understand why it was reclassified in the light of very recent work which was available at the time, but was ignored. Worth looking at the WHO site which gives a lot of excellent detail on the harm it causes. Much of it may surprise you!

As far as granny is concerned, there is no way you can have one law for the teenage yob and a different one for the sweet, white haired old ladies. If we tried this the next day some wise guy of a lawyer would be quoting it as a legal precedent in defence for some young yob

No Jail. This gift of nature from God should have never been made a crime in the first place. Those who argue against this "wonder of nature" are looking at the issue with blinders on. Why should this be a crime when tobacco, alchohol, and prescription drugs kill millions of citizens yearly. Marijuana has killed no one. Not possible, never happened, never will. Unless of course you count the murders of and /or by drug dealers, and thieves. Personally, it would be safer for everyone if you could just go to the liquor store and buy some pot, rather than having to go to some unregulated dealer and the possibility you could get robbed or shot.

for over a decade in the UK, since dunblane, with the exception of muzzle-loading weapons, or those made to comply with the legislation, handguns are banned, and are classed as section 5 weapons, possession is on home office authority only, they are in the same category as machine guns and semi automatic full bore rifles, and i think that illegal possession carries a maximum 10 year sentence, had the weapon been found in the attic or in a garden shed or outhouse, little or no action would have been taken, but as it was under the mattress she cannot claim ignorance of it's existence, as she was well aware on regular occasions that it was there. bear in mind that visiting sportsman from other countries will be able to bring these banned weapons to the UK and use them to compete in Olympic events, as the law allows this, which is totally wrong, if it's banned it should apply totally, and the UK should not host events that include this as a event or venue, also be aware that these weapons are not banned in ireland.

I don't know why people make such a massive issue out of something that's been growing naturally on this planet for centuries, obviously for mans use.And long may it continue too. Hopefully in time the pea brainers who make the rules will see that they're pissing in the wind.

I quite agree with you, as a cannabis grower which was used for personal use, hubby had m.s. at the time, it sole intention is for pain relief. Legalise it and the government will have its share in profits.

I am inclined to believe that this particular granny had a little recreation as well as pain relief in mind. BIG DEAL!! Grass is harmless compared to tobacco and alcohol. Let her get back to her gardening.
