What are some good ideas for a pageant theme?

I'm directing an annual small-town beauty pageant, and I need some suggestions for a modern, fun theme. The past directors have stuck to themes about history and other parts of the world. I want to put on a fresh, energetic show that the contestants (about 16 years old) will want to be a part of. Thoughts?

masquerade..! in that way, the costumes, make up and overall theme and deco wil fantastically stand out..!
