And when you hear that lyric it just makes you melt. I love the bit in Elton John's song, Guess Why They Call It The Blues, when he sings "I simply love you, more than I love life itself".

I admire the lyrics of many singers namely Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks. What song lyrics move you? Which singers do you think are the most talented writers?

And in 3 Doors Down's song "Let Me Go" when Brad sings "You love me but you don't know who I am I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand And you love me but you don't know who I am So let me go Let me go"
and n the same song when he said
"And no matter how hard I try
I can't escape these things inside I know
I know
When all the pieces fall apart
You will be the only one who knows

Though it seems to change on a daily basis, I think Billy Bragg is one the best songwriters out there. It's hard to choose a favorite lyric of his, but I'd have to say two of my favorites are:

"No amount of poetry can mend this broken heart, but you can put the Hoover 'round if you want to make a start"

And

"All my friends from school introduce me to their spouses, while I'm left standing here with my hands down the front of my trousers."

There are many such songs in which a like a particular line
like Enrique's Addicted the line - "Maybe am addicted, i m out of control, but ur the drug that keeps me from dying"

another Enrique's song- hero- "I can be ur hero baby, I can kiss away the pain, i will stand by u forever, u can take my breathe away.."

and there are many many more like that

Thom Yorke from Radiohead "idioteque" in particular
'who's in a bunker, women n children first n the children first n the children
I laugh until my head comes off, I swallow till I burst, until I burst

Also Coldplay, "fix you"
Tears stream down your face, when you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face, I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Lights will guide you home, and I, will try, to fix you...

The first time I heard it I had tears from the previous lyrics. And then he says tears stream....It's a personal contact with God, or whatever you call it, that song...

And blame it on the past.
I'd like to find your inner child

My favorite band is The Decembrists. Something about the song "O Valencia" just makes me happy.

Also, Bjork. God bless her, the lunatic.
