Being a massive Liverpool fan i would have to say that currently Liverpool's team as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In other words i believe Liverpool are through to the last 8 in the champions league because in Europe at least, they are an organised, cohesive unit. Defensively they are the benchmark, they have wonderful skipper in Stevie Gerrard and a savvy boss in Rafa Benitez.

Yet Barcelona are still arguably the team to beat in Europe, boasting the likes of Messi, Etó and of course Ronaldinho. Also the quality of their midfield and defence need not be questioned. But the collective ability/quality of a team does not equal team chemistry, nor the passion seen in Jamie Carragher or the mighty Stevie Gerrard.

Now, answering your q, it must be said that Ronaldinho showed a glimpses of his magic, but was on the night matched by Liverpool's defensive rocks. Maybe problems at the club put too much pressure on the world's number 1. Who really knows. But if there was a chance to silence his critics, the game against Liverpool was the time to do it.

REDS FOR LIFE :)

They all lost their touch, because of injuries the formation was changing through the whole season, and they really miss Van Bommel, he was strong, smart and fast!!!!!

@wumy_4567..... Liverpool will get knock out by the first team in the CL, with that many mistakes that Barca did they should score at least 3 goals, Liverpool was lucky that Messi and Eto'o came back from injury and because of that they weren't at their best!!!!
