I would highly recommend Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition. This is what I use and I've never had virus-related problems on my computer and I'm on the computer A LOT. It runs in the background and it has something called Realtime File Protection, which scans your computer for any new files and looks up new files on a database. If a file seems contraband, then the program will alert you and quarantine the corrupted file. If you want a copy of this for free, I could probably help you out by sending it to you over AIM or something.

You definitely need anti-virus software for your computer (unless you use a Mac, which are generally safe). You have two options: buy the software or download it for free.

Rather than outlay a bunch of cash on popular market-leading anti-virus software, such as Norton, I would advise you to download AVG's free anti-virus software from http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5. Make sure you regularly update the software from the internet, which will mean your virus definitions are up to date (ie your protection against viruses is as good as it gets).

Also download AVG's anti-spyware whil eyou're at it.

there are several fee ones online to be used but they aren't quite as good as the ones you buy in the store. go to CNET.com and do a computer security search and it'll show you all of them. one good way to not have any problem with viruses is to not go into web sits that have a bigger risk of having a virus, spyware, adware that is hidden in there and looking for you. adult pron web sites, shopping web sites and/or any web site that is not backed by a reputable security. good luck with it.

If you want it for free get AVG at:
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html
But if you wanna pay for it get Norton (costs about 50euro where I am). AVG is fine though, I'll be using it when my Norton subscription runs out!
