Thats an interesting point of view, however putting male bashing theory aside, it's a fact that the black widow spider is shy and nocturnal in habit, usually staying hidden in her web, hanging belly upward. Although not aggressive, she may rush out and bite when her web is disturbed or when accidentally trapped in clothing or shoes. Adult male Black Widows wander in search of females but do not feed or bite.Females may occasionally kill and eat a male after mating but this is more the exception than the rule.

It is the reason for the presence of sex - specific gene for such a behaviour in the female genome as two in number as XX. Since it is one in male as XY, the genomic bulk is not sufficient to develop such an instinct in males after mating. A male's part is actually over after mating in any population of any sexually reproducing species. Not only in female black widow spiders, but in most of the scorpions also the female kills the male after mating. I, being a human male, am lucky that girls do not possess such a gene for such a behaviour.

I think it is because that is the last meal they have before they lay their eggs. Then when the eggs hatch they intern eat the mom. And then that whole mess starts all over again when the babies are mature enough to mate
