I let it dry out and I can turn it on ok, and it looks normal enough. The only problem is that the keys won't do anything now. Do you think it's fixable, or will I need to replace it? I cancelled my insurance last year. Any suggestions on what to do?

The best way to dry it out is:
1. Get a lunch box, large enough to fit your Phone in and close the lid.
2. Fill the bottom with alot of salt and when i say alot i mean loads.
3. Fold up a towel or a paper towel and place and cover the salt.
4. Then place the Phone on top and close the lid and leave for a few days.
The salt draws the moisture from the Phone and the towel absorbs it. This does work i have done it with loads of phones and mp3 players.

Also circuit boards are washed when made, with components on. This is to clean the excess flux and grease from the board. So 95% of components on the PCB should still be ok!

Everyone's given you good advice. Here's some more.

ASSUMING it was fresh, clean water your toilet contained.... (no bowl cleaners, debris, etc.) Take it apart as far as you can, remove the battery and let it sit in a sunny window for several days to dry out. Don't turn in on! IF there was any chemicals and/or debris in the water, flush it with clean water, then let it sit in the sun, opened, no battery to completely dry out. Every once in a while, move the buttons to keep them from freezing up.

My husband dropped his cell phone in salt water (ocean) and immediately flushed it with fresh water after removing the battery. He let it sit in the hot sun to dry for 3 days, and it worked fine.

However, it's life was shortened, and he replaced it three months later when it started acting quirky. We didn't have insurance either, but he bought a replacement on ebay.

Your phone may well be a goner, but you can still try to revive it.

I am sure it needs replacing as we've had 2 phones damaged due to liquids and they're not covered by warranty either sadly. My daughter lost her new one recently by spilling a drink in her handbag and phone was only a month old.

should have gave it a flush and called it gone because you will have to replace it as it will never work proper because you got water inside and that will screw up the circuts. be cheaper to replace than to get it fixed
