theres no rule like that but maybe they said that because red is a very noticable color. and bride should be the most beautiful and noticable one in the weddingas its her day. so i think they said it because of this reason that red dress may be sexy and noticable. but not for every red dress of course..

depends on the culture; was anyone offended? who says what is and is not acceptable in what you read? what makes that person an authority? perhaps we shouldn't be so hung up on how things are done. you went to the wedding, you gave your blessings, you apparently did not offend anyone by wearing red ( a colour of mourning and death in some cultures, a colour of good luck in others) I'd say all in all, you were a success that day. personally, i'd never wear slacks to a wedding, dresses only, but that is a reflecton of my bias, not your taste, don't worry too much about convention, worry instead about how you make others feel and you'll be successful in every social situation.

I wore an orange red dress to my friend's wedding and I looked fantastic. No one told me before the wedding(I showed it to my friends and asked if it were appropriate) that is wasn't proper to wear the dress, so I think you are safe. The only thing you have to remember when you go to a wedding is to not look better dressed than the bride. One of my friends(she was one of my bridesmaids and the dresses were to be very plain light pink and a little more than casual) did that to me and I wanted to kill her!

Hahaha what rubbish. Wear whatever you want.
Actually to the Chinese, red is traditionally believed to be an extremely prosperous and auspicious colour, so everyone goes to weddings in red.

thats total rubbish! red is the safest colour to wear. you will look outstanding, and you wont be the usuall gurl caught in a black dress.
futhermore, in chinese customs, its good luck for the bride n groom if you wear red to their wedding. its bad luck if you wear black.
so red is a total YES!

i wouldnt wear red just for the simple fact that you dont want to take attention away from the bride. i would wear something a little suttle as to what her theme is going to be.

this is an exceptionally ambitious colour; for many weddings it may be beside the point. pink particularly attracts interest, and traditionally, at weddings all interest could be on the bride, no longer on a focused visitor.
