Yes, you will mature and leave behind some of your childish ways, especially if you are going to live away from home. Your first year will be one of trying new things and being more reckless because you are not under such strict rules. You will have new freedoms that you will take advantage of. Later, you will learn how to balance the freedoms with your need to study and do well. Good luck.

University is fantastic as you can start on a fresh clean slate and be whoever you want to be! It is a time of change anyway, the movement from being a teenager living at home, going to school etc etc has now suddenly ceased and you have a whole world of opportunities out there for you - it just depends on which ones you choose to do. These are what change you. University is great as you will never meet so many people again in your life. My only advice would be to get involved in as much as possible! That way, you will get the most out of the whole experience and have a full CV for the future (something employers will look for as the job hunt becomes increasingly competitive). With all this, you will increase in confidence and abilities and find out loads about yourself. It's a very exciting time - good luck. :-)
