Try seventhavenue.com, or ginnys.com. I've seen in their catalogues a wooden trash can that holds the bag & has a wooden cover. It comes in sev. colors. I've also seen a spacesaver type cabinet in wood for the kitchen with a tilt out lower half that holds a 13 gal. can & has cubbies & butcher block on top.

If you separate your rubbish into organic waste, dry recycleable waste and the rest, you won't have very much to put under your sink.
The organic waste can go into a bin with a charcoal filter in the lid; this prevents smells.
The recycleable waste could sit in a cupboard as it is inoffensive.
The rest could sit under your sink without attracting flies, in the main.
Bury the organic stuff in your garden and it will improve your soil fertility.
This is the most eco-friendly way!

If you put it under your sink, empty it daily, and it won't attract flies or smell. If not there, then in your cellar. If you live in an apartment, a side closet, and empty it each day.

we stick our garbage can right outside the back door on the porch. that way it is easy to get to, but i don't have to deal with the smell and flies.

Could build a nice wooden box for it, or go to a craft show and see what they got, like a potato box.

They have some real nice stainless steel cans with a lid. They really look clean.

I would just find a trash container that fits in well with your decor, that you like, that you can clean easily, that seals well. It won't be hidden, but you won't mind looking at it.
