Edge talked Orton into an alliance to get back at Shawn and Triple H. He showed Orton the infamous thumbs down footage where Triple H kicked Orton out of Evolution.

They got together after Edge had a steel cage match with Cena.Dx came out and made Edge lose.The next week on Raw Randy Orton told Edge they should go after DX since Dx cost Edge his WWE title.And that is how the story goes for Rated RKO

on raw a couple of months ago edge said that him and randy orton can be a great stable because they are the best in the wwe and they have a future and the could take out dx then they became rated rko

Edge was mad at not getting his title shot so he wanted to get even with DX & take them out.So he talked Randy into joining forces with him to form Rated RKO & feud with HHH & HBK.In some ways it worked as HHH is now out injured.

Orton was a guest on the cutting edge and he showed some video clips of them being screwed by DX so edge suggested they team up and take DX out.

They first decided to team up on Edge's show, The Cutting Edge. Edge kept showing Randy how DX ruined their matches in one way or another. So they decided to try and get rid of DX.
