In my opinion, the spinning of earth is somehow related to to its orbit revolution, the sudden halt will also effect the revolution of earth, which is the only force holding the earth at a safe distance from the sun, involving the phenomenon of centrifugal force, as a bigger mass the sun will then start pulling the earth toward it, and I leave the rest for you to imagine.

each thing that became into no longer bolted to Earth's floor could take off because of the fact of inertia and momentum and land VERY no longer elementary because of the fact the guidelines of the conservations of momentum, mass, and power could have been violated all on the comparable time. that's what could take place.

The temperature of the halves of the world would drastically change, causing weather to change, then crops to diminish due to lack of weather and sunlight/darkness. It would probably cause mass environmental mayhem.
