I just read a news story about the ACLU wanting to sue a former correctional facility in Texas for housing illegal immigrants in sub standard housing. These people are being housed, fed, given medical treatement @ our ( Americans ) expense. Also, they are not locked up,they are free to roam the facility as they please. Question is, Does anyone else see anything wrong W/this lawsuite?
ACLU stands for AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES not ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS CIVIL LIBERTIES.Am I missing something here?Thank you to all who respond.

I don't think you're missing anything. If you put "illegal" in a sentence with an American citizen then we are going to be incarcerted and/or punished under our laws - put "illegal" in a sentence with someone who is NOT an American but on American soil and the ACLU gets all up in arms over it......something is definitely not right here.

I am sorry that there are children who are put in a bad situation by their parents breaking the law, but just because their are illegal parents with illegal children does not make being here any less ILLEGAL!

It's just getting out of control! One of my children had a speech delay and our pediatrician referred us to the IU, which is also responsible for the Head Start program --- I waited 3 months for a 30 minute evaluation, when I got there there were three classrooms FULL of foreign children who were getting ALL the services the IU had to offer, PLUS full day preschool and kindegarten....at the tax payers expense. My daughter was going to get 30 minutes one day a week for three month with a speech teacher. What is wrong with this picture?
I ended up taking my hardworking dollar and placing my child with a private speech therapist becaue obviosusly the only way the IU would have been interested in helping my child was if I could prove we hopped a border and came here to suck up the American resources that we didn't pay for and didn't deserve.
So yes, I feel bad for the kids who got dragged into their parents legal mess - but that is not my problem! As a parent I would never put my children in harms way and the parents of those children are the ones who did that, not our government who is detaining them. I am tired of payin for other people's piss poor parenting!!

The ACLU was important during the Civil Rights movement but is now obsolete. It is a waste of time and money. It is ridiculous that an illegal can sue for anything at all.

Yes this IMHO is a frivolous lawsuit as most are now-a-days. Although I don't agree the illegal immigrants are "free to roam the facility as they please" they are housed just as any other offender. Min. Security inmates are out of the cells for a good part of the day roaming around a day area not the facility. Its just a publicity stunt for the ACLU (like always).

These are exactly the types of cases ACLU love to file. Crazy bunch of people.
