ABA = American Banking Association

Routing numbers define which bank you are interested in.

Looking at a typical cheque, you see a sequence of digits at or near the bottom.

They occur as a nine-digit code, a twelve-digit code, and a three- (or four-) digit code.

The nine-digit code is the ABA routing number.
The twelve digit code is a bank account.
The three (or four) digit code is the sequential cheque number.
