My thinking is that unless your roof is extremely high she has a good chance of surviving the fall but in the process she will sustain injuries which will require you to provide round the clock nursing and suffer vast amounts of verbal abuse in the performance of your duties. Get the woman in a harness immediately.

Yes, without a doubt she needs a safety harness. OSHA would sue the owner of a house if he allowed a contractor do roof work and they were injured or killed working on your house. Do not take any chances with this.

YES she needs a safety harness the fall may not kill her but you don't need to hear that kind of noise she will never let you forget that you let her go up with out one.

OSHA does not require you to have one. they do require anyone you hire who is 6 feet or more off the ground to be tied off in a fall arrest kit. they are quite expensive. for something you may never use again but she should be very careful, and if you do use a rope please remember if she does fall it could do more damage than good. your really in a catch 22. you should be out with her to watch so that should something happen you could call 911.

she sounds like a keeper. i'd make sure she doesn't fall. and remember, it's not the fall that kills you. it's the sudden stop at the end. (does she clean fish too?)
