Hi, well roses are nice and I feel they are a symbol of love but the real symbol of love is the affection that one shows for the other person.
Roses are red, violets are blue, roses are cool but just material to.

Absolutely - we can liken the Rose to our own vulnerability and blossoming when it comes to matters of love.
Initially tightly packed and wrapped in its own design, the Rose gloriously unfurls when it encounters all the elements vital to its development.
We too as humans can be packed in our own layers of doubt, fear, etc - but when circumstances are right - and our capacity for love is matched - POOF! We blossom out in our splendor and express the beauty which is love.
I think the Rose is an excellent symbol for love. This website: http://www.whats-your-sign.com/love-symbols.html has a blurb about the meaning of the Rose as a love symbol that may be helpful to your research.
Thanks for posting the question!
Regards,
V.

Don't know why anyone would think this unless it's because roses can be thorny blooms - like any relationship... starts off blooming, then becomes thorny... ok horny as well ;-)
