IMy house alarm has sensors in all the rooms to the back of the house. We moved our bird in to the kitchen for Xmas so we could put the tree in our sittinroom, and twice we came home and our alarm said 'burglar alarm- kitchen' So we moved our bird out of the kitchen presuming it was its movements settin it off.
Yesterday I came home and it said the same 'burglar alam - kitchen' What could be cauding this? My windows were closed. The blinds were open. I have two goldfish in there but it has never went off before?
Thanks

Is it a wireless system? If so radio interference could be a cause (it is for me), I think broadband causes it.
I was told you can also get a type of filter for the motion sensors so pets can't set them off.

I was told that the sensors are sensitive to changes in heat (from body heat) rather than movement so unlikely to be goldfish. Also - was there a power cut yesterday? This can set alarms off. I'd call the alarm company and ask them as it may be a fault than needs checking out. It's going to annoy your neighbours if the alarm keeps going off and no-one will react then if someone really does break in.

Check the sensors for spiders they are a common cause of false alarms. Good luck

We had an IR alarm that sometimes went off when the sun came out - but it only happened on really sunny days.

It could be warm air currents or direct sunshine, I assume it's PIR sensor, you could replace the sensor with a new one or play extra safe and fit a 'dualtec' which will need two signals before triggering. (PIR and microwave) no more false alarms.

You could just have a faulty sensor. Its happened to me - changed the sensor and its never happened again.

I hate to say it but one possibility is mice. You might want to check around for droppings and call an exterminator.

when this happened to a friend the culprit was a big fat spider who had just crossed the sensor.
