The Azores (or Açores) are part of Portugal - they're a group of islands in the mid-Atlantic. They're meant to be very beautiful, with hot springs, volcanos, whale watching, good dairy products, native tea. Apparently lots of the portuguese immigrants in the US and Canada come from the Azores - there was a lot of emigration from there in the mid 20th century due to poverty. They say that most dairy producers in southern california are of azorean descent. It's on my list of places to visit but I can't quite decide which islands to go to and how to plan the trip...

Azores was derived from the archaic Portuguese word "azures" the plural of the word blue.
In the Atlantic, about two hours from Lisbon, Portugul and 5 hours America. The Azores are 9 islands.
They sound very relaxing - probably better than hawaii
