You work with people, yes.....people need communication skills to let them do what you do to their face, body, etc. Its a good thing for everyone to have but to put people at ease while you do your job is a big bonus for you.
For example, you get your feet done....you don't want some strange person rubbing your feet and then painting your nails that has nothing to say, yes......you like it to be a good time, relaxing and they can say anything that you are able to respond to with good spirit.
Strong communication skills are great for getting to know someone or just making time go by quicker. Believe me, the quicker done with make up and making that prima donna go away the better..... :-)

Anyone whom works in the public should (not saying we all do ) but here are a few reasons
1 clints return
2 comision ( if u get them )
3 customer service ( some people will tip and some will not but u like it when they do )
4 helps you grow in the work force you boss is watching
5 its nice to be nice to people

So they can explain to the client exactly what they are doing and what products like green or purple concealer are used for and they can ask the client what colours they want for their eyes and lips also they can spark up a general chat with the client such as what their reason is for having their make-up done

when applying make -up on some one else you need to have good communication so that you can find out what they like, IE colours they usually were for make up, clothing colours they were (as every one has one main colour) what the make is for IE day were, night out, wedding or photographic make-up as all this makes a difference when i am doing wedding make-up i need to find out things like dress colour flower colour and even bride maids dress colour. you need to be Abel to talk the person through what you are doing and that they are happy at each stage of the make over you would be amazed at what is involved in the choice of colour and style of make up i hope this is of help to you.

because the make up artist need to be able to communicate his or her ides for the shoot well to the shoot director and models if necessary so that any changes are made before shooting starts
