I don't have the fastest of cars but I want to increase the performance and better fuel economy. Is there anything else to do for the handling part? Thanks.

It is hard to give you details without knowing the make and year of the car. With a computer controlled fuel injection car, some simple things may include adding a computer chip, replacing injectors, adding aftermarket headers and exhaust, adding a throttle body spacer for a TBI engine, and upgrading spark distribution components, spark wires and plugs. Upgrading air intake components will similarly well on both computer and non-computer controlled vehicles.
Carbureted engines differ in that there is no computer, carburetor instead of injected throttle bodies, and they have less advanced spark control system. Though there may be less simple upgrade options for carbureted engines, many upgrades similar to those for fuel injection can be done with the exception of computer upgrades. Carbureted engines are often cheaper to upgrade also.

increase the amount of air going into and coming out of the engine will increase mileage and performance as for the handling part you may just need new shock and struts
