i have my p.c "dual booted" like yours and you need anti-virus(and anti-spyware) on both operating systems
avg is a excellent choice as its 100% compatible with windows vista and xp(of course) and another excellent free anti-virus that is comaptible with both is avast 4.7(http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html)
i have avast on vista and avg on xp,and i find this works fine, spybot also is fully comaptible with vista so installing this wont do you any harm
i recommend you boot into vista at least once every day just to make sure it gets chance to update the anti-virus and download any vista updates
good luck mate

On both, because you can only run one OS at a time and they have different systems files even though they may use the same data files. The protection will only run if the program is running when the drive is booted.

you may not but its safer if you do

both hardrives are being used so there both likely too need security

tho you'll only need to pay once ! !

even if its not needed its always safer to do so
