I downloaded this ovie, but I can't get it to display subtitles.
I understand the english and spanish and pretty much understand the Moroccan (I think thats right) storyline, but I have no idea what the heck is happening with this Japanese girl, I can't understand a thing!

Can someone please giv me an explanation of what is going on with her and who the guys are, first, the guy she gets naked in front of and I'm now at the part where he is in the lobby talking to the older guy, who is the older guy?

Also, how does she tie into the plot? I saw the pics in the desert, but I don't know anything else, can someone please help me???

Chieko's father owned the gun, and gave it to the man who sold it in Morocco, so the police are looking for him to question him.

Chieko is not in touch with society, because she is deaf-mute, witnessed her mother's suicide/death, and feels ignored by her father.

This feeling of being invisible and/or misunderstood is projected by Chieko onto all men in general, and she believes that their rejection of her agressive provocation is because of her disability, not the fact that she is a minor and that her "victims" don't want to be criminally implicated by giving into her advances.

In the end, I believe she is provoking the entire city in general by standing nude on the balcony, further demonstrating her frustration about the language/disability barrier.

She told the investigator that her mother commited suicide by jumping off the balcony. The letter says that she lied about the method of suicide...her mom really commited suicide by gunshot to the head.

This is yet another game played by Chieko to prove that nobody really cares what she says......that instead of reading the truth-bearing handwritten letter, the investigator sticks it in his pocket.

"If only he had paid attention to her"....message of the whole movie. (Pay attention to your kids...what they say and do.)

It all starts with the Japanese Hunter(the mute and deaf and naked girl's father) wnen he gives the rifle as a present to the morrocon guy. Kinda butterfly effect. Everything is connected. If he hadnt giving him the rifle the kid wouldnt have shot the woman and so on. The man she undresses in front of is the detective and the man he encounters at the lobby is the father. The girl psyhologically disturbed, her mother's being dead, feeling not wanted just hurles her into oblivion/

Cheiko, the deaf and mute girl, gets naked front of the detective who comes to inquire about the gun that is registered in her father's name, the man the detective meets at the lobby. Chieko mistakes the detective wants to inquire about her mother's suicide, assuming they suspect her father, says her father was asleep while her mother jumps out of the balcony as she stood witnessing it, whereas later father says to the detective she shot herself in the head and not the other way around.

She ties into the plot not only because her father's gun, that he gifts to a guide in Morroco, leads to a tragedy, but Chieko's character (deaf and mute Japanese) suffers alienation despite living in Japan, besides Yussef and Ahmed in Morroco, for being what she is unlike other characters facing alienation in different cultures. Chieko's character is quintessential, Babel stands for confusion and it happens due to inability to express oneself and being not precisely understood, since she is a stranger in her own country.

As for the note, we got to only assume what it says since there is no explanation in the form of subtitles or narrative in the movie.
