Basically you act as their first link in the chain of care.
You are their advocate if they need one, you liase between them and the care they need. Make appointments, oversee all their care needs, liase with their families, thier medical care, the list is pretty endless, and so is the ruddy paperwork, triple triplicate in most cases, you assess their needs, you ensure there are regular reviews with all bodies.......I have just retired from that, having enjoyed 24 years of ups and downs that comes with it.,,and now plan to make a KEYWORKERS life hell in years to come lol. define your own role.ask your employers what they expect from you i work with elderly mental patients,and i think you know in yourself weather you caring at a good enough standard.the exact definition i suppose would be to aid and assist elderly people in a residential environment.
