Definitely agree with you about Hardy. I quite like Fitzgerald, though.

Off the top of my head, I find the following authors very overrated:

Martin Amis
Joseph Conrad
Norman Mailer
Emily Bronte
Henry James
Bret Easton Ellis
Jay McInerney
Maya Angelou

... and almost all poets!

Virtually anything by John Irving, except possibly for "Garp." His influences (Dickens, Hardy, etc.) are all better than he is. I had to read "A Prayer for Owen Meany" in high school, and it struck me as a book only an English teacher could love.

Wuthering Heights. I have been forced to read this for FIVE different classes as an English major and I can say this. Cathy is whiny, Heathcliff is mean and if I never read another word about the moors it will be too soon.

The Coldest iciness Ever by using Sister Soulja. there isn't one undesirable assessment for this e book. each and every time I unexpectedly met different e book readers they might continuously ask, have your study the Coldest iciness Ever. For years i attempted to discover this e book. i ultimately chanced on it and it somewhat is somewhat over rated. according to risk i think of it replaced into puffed up simply by fact i've got been waiting see you later to study it and my own concepts replaced into looking forward to something large. according to risk my expectancies have been too intense. i don't be responsive to.

Bunyan's "The Pilgrim's Progress." It's the most famous book nobody has ever read.

The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway. I read it and thought it was a snooze-fest. Boring!
