I'm sorry that no one has answered your question. This is an excellent Question. In fact, it's so good, I have no idea what the answer is.
When you say the BBC, which tv show are you exactly asking about? A company (as I assume the BBC to be) doesn't generally have a plot; they have a history, but not a plot.
