Sourav lost his Captaincy and the place in the Team because his Bat was not talking. His Tongue was wagging.

Many will remember how he made the cardinal Mistake while in Zimbabwe after he scored that lack luster Century while talking to Harsha Bogle 'live' to the Television.

He 'squealed' out Selection Meeting Discussions and earned the Name of Bad Boy. When his Bat did the 'Talking' he was recalled. He can hope to get some Advertisement Contacts. NOT the Captaincy. [of the National Team]

No its not possible now because Dada doesn,t have much cricketing carrer and Rahul Dravid is working great as a captain so board will not like to change his position as a captain. Bejan Daruwala the great horoscope teller of India has also admitted that Dravid will be captain of India till next 17-18 months upto that Dada will retire.

now Dada is no more interested in Captaincy, he wants to play for india atleast for 2 more years. It will be better for him not to get into that trap. i hope that he plays well in the World Cup and brings it back home. best of Luck to Dada And India.

No and he should not.He is not a better captain than Dravid.Check out the records. We all feel that Sourav is a far better captain than Rahul but look at the following records and you may check www.cricket.indiatimes.com and you will see that this true.and Rahul is doing a good job so why give the captaincy to ganguly???Also, Rahul is a much much better player than Ganguly.that is clear to all.A captain does not necessarily be aggressive and Dravid has got his own way of leading and he is doing a good job, more than that. So, i feel Rahul is a much better captain than Sourav and should not be changed and he won't.....

With the World Cup around the corner and the top eight
teams gunning to lift the most coveted trophy in the West Indies,
there is good news for Indian skipper Rahul Dravid. Statistics show
that the 'Wall' is India's most successful One-day captain among all
those who have captained India in at least 20 matches.

Under Dravid, India have won 32 of the 58 matches that have produced
results during his tenure. That's a success rate of 55%, just a
little higher than the 54% success rate that Sourav Ganguly,
Mohammad Azharuddin and Kapil Dev had. This may seem like a fine
point, but the statistics actually understate how much more
successful Dravid has been than his predecessors.

That's because, of the 62 One-day matches in which Dravid has
captained, only two have been played against a traditional minnow —
Zimbabwe in 2005 — while the rest have all been against the top
teams in world cricket.

In contrast, Ganguly had 31 wins against the likes of Bangladesh,
Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia and Netherlands boosting his success rate
and Azhar had the benefit of 20 wins against the whipping boys of
international cricket.

Exclude matches against the minnows and Dravid's success rate drops
to 54%, but Ganguly's goes down to 43% and Azhar's to 49%.

Only Kapil Dev, with a 51% success rate against the better teams,
comes close to matching Dravid's record.

Kapil, in fact, has a better record leading away from home —
excluding minnows — than even Dravid. On foreign soil, Kapil won 49%
of the matches he led in, whereas Dravid has won 10 out of 23
completed matches for a 43% success rate. That put's him in third
place behind Gavaskar, who had a 46% success rate with 11 wins in 24
matches.

Ganguly's record abroad (23%) is the worst among the six captains
who have led India at least in 20 matches each.

Azhar has the best record at home (excluding minnows) with a 65% win
rate, but Dravid is not far behind at 61%. On this list, Ganguly
finishes in fifth spot, ahead of Gavaskar, who could captain India
to only 14 wins in 35 completed matches.

And if you look at Ganguly's test record as a captain you will find that it was Rahul who played the key role in these wins, not Ganguly.

Looks difficult .he is the best person as captain but chances of him getting captaincy are very remote.two reasons
if India win the cup then David will continue
if India loses then they will choose some youngster

If the future selection is purely made on merit, Sourav is automatic choice as Captain of "Team India". Rahul is not fit for the captaincy, but he secured the position on "quota" basis and he has been playing the "dummy role" of Chappel.
SO FOR THE BETTER FUTURE OF INDIAN CRICKET BRING BACK GANGULY AS CAPTAIN AFTER WC'2007.

Anything can happen . If india fails in the world cup and Rahul Dravid loses form and captaining skills and acumen then Dada will become captain again.

No, but its not because he's doesn't have those skills. Sourav is undoubtedly one of the best captains, India have seen.

Sourav is about to retire in some time, so it doesn't make any sense to make him the captain, if he cannot continue till the next world cup.
Dravid has done a good job till now as a captain, he should continue with the job as long as he can. Yuvraj is another contender for the job.
