*In the anime the characters of a certain series can move and talk and move their mouths when talking just like the cartoons they give on tv, like with animation, but with the difference that anime is originally in Japanese and then it might be dubbed into English and might be addapted to the tv, an example: Naruto, It's from Japnan but it was subbed in the US. Oh, and most of the time anime can be taken or influenced by manga & almost every anime has a manga.

*In the manga the characters can't move and they can't talk, It's the same as the comic strips, but with the difference that they are in the left-right style or it might be on the right-left side style & they come in Japanese too, an example of manga: Kodocha(anime: Kodomo No Omocha).

To put it briefly, manga is a Japanese graphic novel. It is usually read right to left but it is similar to a comic book.
Anime is Japanese animation, an animated version of the story.
For example, there is a manga (book) entitled "Inuyasha". This was turned into a 167-episode animated series. Each episode is 20-30 minutes and is aired on Cartoon Network.
