Billy,
The answer is because Applebee's microwaves their food which comes in cryo-vac "Boil in Bag" portions, sent from a central distributing warehouse. It tastes okay but not great because it isnt freshly made. This is a fact. Not something I made up. Several national chains do this, but Applebee's does it the most. People that eat at Fridays, Bennigans, Ruby Tuesdays, etc. are enjoying a meal that while it may not taste bad, and is reasonably priced, are not eating a wholly prepared fresh meal. Parts of it may be fresh, but some may be out of a bag or can. Just depends on what you like and what you are willing to pay for.

Applebee's is just okay. I prefer not to go there often. I have had two instances where i have eaten there and ended up with stomach issues for days afterwards. As far as chains like that go, I like Ruby Tuesday's and Fridays better.

Actually, I think lately it has more to do with Hollywood than the actual restauraunt. There is a movie called "Waiting" that negatively portrays an "Applebee's-type" place. If they were all that way, then they'd be shut down quick. Just a thought.

Well your girlfriend is pretty smart. My husband went there one night and they brought us food and we hadn't ordered yet. That shows that they don't pay much attention to what they do. When we did order, it took an hour and a half to get our food. It was cold and not what we ordered. The waitress came to our table three times and that was it. Needless to say, we didnt pay. Also a family that came after we did had the same problem, but they took the issue farther than we did. So good luck if you ever decide to go!!

I like places like Chili's and Bennigans, but I have never been a fan of Applebees. The food is lukewarm, usually not hot, when it's brought to you. Also, alot of their foods are overly sweet. I don't want to taste something sugary on my steak or chicken.

Chemical-tasting sub-par food reproduced by the millions. Boston Market is REALLY bad about this too--I hate it. Also sometimes a loud tacky atmosphere in these places, teeming with people. I find T.G.I. Fridays to be the best of them. Why don't you aske her, though?

There food is DISGUSTING, their cooking and cleaning practices are sub-par...people are always getting sick after eating there. The service is lousy and the atmosphere isn't great. Find somewhere decent to eat & you'll see the differences immediately!

Because anyone with only a little bit of 'taste' or class' would never eat there !! Franchise restaurants are not known for being very good . They mostly appeal to younger adults and people who have never eaten in 'good' restaurants .

Everytime I have ever been, the food tastes like it came right from the can and then popped in the microwave, coming out smelling like dog food. Microwaved dogfood.
