in australia is it illegal to bounce a cheque?

if a business pays me by cheque and it bounces do i have any legal recourse on that cheque?

Don't know about that stuff "down under"
But in Texas it is considered illegal and actionable under the law -- besides-- in Texas -- you give someone a bad check and it "bounces" -- the check may not be the only thing that gets BOUNCED !!!

If the cheque bounces it just means that there is no money from which the cheque was made out. That business still owes you the money. Its not 'illegal', it just means that you have to let that company know that you still require payment from them. If they refuse you can sought legal help in order to get your money.
