Why citizens of NATO nations protest against killing of civilians in afghanistan by their forces.

Because most Muslims don't live in free democracies with guaranteed civil liberties, such as the freedom of speech and peaceful assembly. The vast majority of Muslims are afraid of the Taliban and terrorism just as me and you are. If they speak out against them, they run the risk of being killed. There are more peaceful Muslims then radicals.
Why Muslims? Maybe because the Koran can be interpreted in so many different ways, one is a violent way. They teach it and spread it.

I say partially because they are not used to the fact that they can protest. In their past history, speaking out or protesting was not an option due to the repercussions of doing so. Similar actions took place under Saddam during his reign in Iraq. They are adjusting to their newly found freedoms.
