Some people want to know what a person's interests and preferences are before they bother going on a date.

Its easy to meet somone you get along with and then fall in love with them. Human beings are compatible with lots of different partners, but often these relationships don't last the distance.

Interaction via computer is a way of getting to know people who have similar interests, sure this can be done in other ways but if it makes them happy then who are we to judge?

For many reasons I suppose, especially those in the kind of jobs that tie them to their work for most of the daylight hours, be the evening they are mentally & physically drained to go out to meet people. Some have time but shy to even be the first one to say hello, others maybe lacking confidence about whatever they have hang-up re.their own personality.... Internet provides flexible time & anonymity at least up to the point that the relations is ready to face each other in person.

its not about the nature anymore, its the evolution of one's nature. we have evolved to being creatures of convenience. Whatever is convenient is what goes. You can sit in the comfort of your own home without having to go out in the cold winter evening to do things right? Other than that, being on the net actually allows you to be yourself- there is a sort of comfort about it - weird innit? oh well...i am sure a better answer will come along.

I suppose your true personality comes out when you chat on the computer, because there is distance you don't feel shy about setting out your true views. I always find that in person people might be more reluctant to set out their points of view.
I met my fiance online, and it's the best thing I've ever done.

Because via computer you don't have to worry so much about how you look, how are you dressed etc. So you can concentrate more on the topic of the discussion.

Because it is easily accessed. Probably cheaper according to where you usually go to meet people, and you have alot more variety at your fingertips. That would be my guess.
